If you’re an Otaku, you probably know what a trap is already; if not, well, a trap in the anime world doesn’t mean what you think it means.

 

The word Trap comes from English, which means… Trap, but beyond the classic meaning, a trap in the anime world means characters who dress, behave, and talk opposite sex; a trap doesn’t necessarily have to be homosexual or lesbian; it’s more of a behavior thing.

 

So yes, this is why they call them traps, which makes perfect sense. If asked, an anime fan, or an otaku, would probably say that they enjoy the screen time of traps more than the other

characters because they have a certain appeal, thanks to their dynamic and unusual character traits.

 

A trap is usually used to describe a man behaving and dressing like a female, and a reverse trap, is the opposite of that; it’s a female behaving and dressing like a man.

 

Bear in mind here that a trap is a term used ONLY within an anime context, and it is NOT APPROPRIATE to use it to describe someone in real life.

This term first saw the light around the year 2000, and it became fertile soil for memes

around the year 2004. Ultimately becoming a popular term among manga and anime fans.

The word trap was chosen because many anime fans think that a female character is appealing, and when it comes to the moment of truth, well… they are shocked.

However, another term is used to describe a trap: Femboy.

Now that we know what the term Trap stands for, and without further due, let’s hop into discovering the most famous trap characters in the anime world.

 

But be careful; you will encounter a lot of traps in the following, lol.

 

1: RUKA URUSHIBARA

RUKA URUSHIBARA from the anime STAINS GATE is arguably the most famous Trap in the world of anime, and luckily, she didn’t fool anyone because she was honest about her

sexuality from the first episode of the show. This is why she is the first one on our list of best anime traps.

 

Ruka is one of the very few Traps in the anime world that turns into a woman, PHYSICALLY, thanks to time travel, informing her mother while she was pregnant to eat different foods than what she was eating resulted in the birth of Ruka as a male.

Ruka is 1.60M tall and is very sensitive, to the point that even the slightest word of disagreement can make him cry.

 

2: SEIKO KOTOBUKI

The second nomination in our top anime traps list is KOTOBUKI SEIKO from the anime LOVELY COMPLEX, Kotobuki was one of the most deceiving traps in anime. She fooled the audience and even the show’s protagonist; everybody thought he was a girl. He even kissed one of the characters, resulting in the most epic scene of the show.

 

SEIKO is a character that is full of joy; she is an enjoyable, cheerful person. However, she has a reckless side, and she has a very low tolerance for the stupidity of some characters she interacts with during the show.

 

SEIKO’s reckless personality often makes her act in strange ways, and she even forced a kiss on a character that she had a crush on (OTANI) in front of his friends, without even talking to him.

 

Despite her overall cheerful personality, she can get jealous sometimes, like when she notices that Otani is wearing a hoodie given to him by Risa.

 

Overall, Seiko is an enjoyable character. She is dynamic and vibrant, making her one of the fan-favorite Traps in the anime world.

 

3: HIDEYOSHI KINOSHITA

 

HIDEYOSHI KINOSHITA from the anime BAKA TO TEST SHOKANJU isn’t precisely a trap because he doesn’t wear female clothes. Still, thanks to his sexual neutrality, and unique character, he became of the most famous characters in the show. He even receives a love

confession three times a month.

Unlike the rest of his class, HIDEYOSHI is a calm and stoic character, and he keeps that attractive, chill character throughout most of his screen time.

However, when mistaken for a girl because he dresses up like a girl, he will quickly reply with a tone that carries a minor irritation.

Hideyoshi was born on August 24^th, 1995, his hair is brown, and his eyes are green. He looks so much like his sister. The only difference between the two is their different hairstyle.

 

4: FELIX ARGYLE

FELIX from the anime RE-ZERO is relatively easier to spot than the others in this list, with his cat-like features and behavior. One who pays enough attention would quickly realize that this character has something off.

 

Known as FERRIS or BLUE, this latter served as a knight and an attendant for duchess Krusch Karsten. He is a demi-human demi cat.

 

Insisting on being called FERRIS. He served as an iron right hand for duchess Krusch in her pursuit of becoming the forty-second queen of the kingdom of Lugonica.

 

Unlike any other classic bodyguard who can swing a sword at will, Ferris was no fighter, his skills were shining in the field of healing, he is truly a master healer. Throughout the series, he masterfully showed his ability through healing impossible wounds, which was worthy of admiration and respect.

 

Thanks to his extraordinary healing abilities, he was the wielder of the most incredible magic water in the kingdom of Lugonica, and many traveled by and night just to be healed by him. Ehbd

 

5: AMANE NISHIKI

 

AMANE from the anime BLAZE BLUE is a vibrant character that cannot go unnoticed, also known as UZUME (the dance god), he is one of the most stylish characters in the anime

world, the exuberant colors in his clothes and his classic pink dress makes him one of the most noticeable Traps in the anime world.

 

With his vibrant violet hair, blue eyes and dark pink eye shadow, red lipstick, he is one of the most playful characters in the BLAZE BLUE and the leader of the dance Troupe.

Referring to battles as *dances* Amane is a playful, respectful, and friendly individual, even by observing his gameplay, one can say with certainty that he is such.

He is constantly hunting for new performers to challenge or add to his troupe of dancers. He often dresses almost everybody as *dear*, but beware that Amane is a reasonably masculine character despite his feminine appearance and elegant choice of words.

Despite all this, Amane isn’t as perfect as depicted. He often makes mistakes and realizes them quite late, like that one time when he trained Bullet’s squad dancing style for almost 3 days before realizing that he was using the word *troop* wrongly the whole time.

 

6: SIESHIRO TSUGUMI (reverse Trap)

SEISHIRO, from the anime NISEKOI, was first introduced as a male, who transfers to Chitoge’s class to protect her from RAKU, thinking that this latter was forcing Chitoge into a relationship with him.

 

She was raised and trained by Claude Ringheart to be a hitman, which she is currently. However, Claude only raised Seishiro and isn’t her blood relative, in fact, Seishiro does not know her birth parents.

 

When Claude first met Seishiro, he mistook her for a boy, he then acted upon that to give her a very masculine name and dress her up as a boy, she didn’t seem to be bothered by it, so it remained like that for a year.

 

Very few people know that Seishiro is a boy, and when I say very few, I mean 3 people to be more precise, they are Shu Maiko, Ruri Miyamoto,

And Chitoge Kirisaki. The first two are childhood friends.

 

SEISHIRO is a very loyal character, she is serious when it comes to business, and above all, she is mild-mannered.

 

7: AYUZAWA MISAKI

AYUZAWA KISAKI from the anime KAICHOU WA MAID SAMA is a character with a double life or a secret life. When she isn’t busy with school or something else, she secretly works in a cafe in Maid Sama. However, this secret was discovered by the handsome Takumi Usui and hijinks ensue.

 

AYUZAWA is an extremely hard worker, she is a hustler, as far as the word hustler can go, it is in fact, one of her most admirable character traits, she gives her all into everything she does, work or class, she does not care. Even sickness isn’t an excuse for her, she got sick one time yet she pushed through it and still, gave it 110 percent!

This trait made her one of the most exceptional students in school, studying and working hard just seem to be natural to her, and with that, and with that she earned the respect of the students and the trust of the teachers, as a result, it just seemed natural for her to take her place as the president of the student council, which she did.

AYUZAWA KISAKI vaguely has a slight tolerance towards physical labor, despite her excellent level at training, she still for some reason struggles with physical labor, which some fans believe it was the reason why she was hired as a maid at the maid latte.

 

8: MIDARE TOUSHIROU

MIDARE TOUSHIROU from the anime TOUKEN RANBU is a male character that dresses and acts like a female…ofc lol. Despite his highly feminine behavior and style, and the fact that he uses a dress as combat. Clothing, he is actually a boy.

 

He resided in the citadel in Then ranbu: hanamary as one of the Awataguchi siblings, when the arrival day of Tsurumaru and Doudanuki came, he was assigned to a cleaning duty with Hachikusa, and when Doudanuki stumbled upon the room that Midare was assigned to Clean, he was surprised to see a girl in a boarding home that was meant for men only, MIDARE quickly understood the situation and proceeded to introduce himself using Boku ( a masculine pronoun ), which resulted from a tsunami of confusion hitting everyone that was around.

 

9: ASTOLFO

ASTOLFO from the anime FATE / APOCRYPHA is also known as the rider of black, he is a rider-class servant under the clock of CELENIKE ICECOLLE of the black faction. After the death of his formal master, he then signed a contract with SIega, making him one of the servants of Ritsuka or the grand order conflicts.

 

He is one of the twelve paladins of Charlemagne, as the legend has it, ASTOLFO is the son of a king in England and one of Charlemagne’s loyal twelve paladins.

 

Upon interacting with him, it is sad that ASTOLFO is supremely handsome, very optimistic, and senseless. He was quite a ladies’ man, perhaps for one of or all these reasons, he was portrayed as a weak man in the legends.

 

ASTOLFO was quite the adventurer, he traveled all around the world, even reading the moon at the end, and during his journeys, he had won many mystic codes, such as his icon cute and his grimoire and his golden lance.

 

10: MIYU SHINOHARA

MIYU SHINUHARA from the anime CORPSE PARTY is a student at the Kisargi academy senior high school. She is a spirit lifted person who dresses well and likes teasing her friends.

MIYU is one of my personal favorites, she is very good at sports and is famous among her peers in school, of both genders, she constantly teases a classmate named Satoshi Mochida, perhaps because she has a crush on him. However, she keeps refusing to admit it and insists that they’re only jokes, but I think it is evident at this point lol. She is also very kind to Yuka Mochida.
